ABOUT ME
My name is Catherine Kambouris and I am an undergraduate researcher currently completing a Bachelor of Arts and Design (Honours) in Architecture. Specifically, my research aims to explore the potentials of digitally fabricated architecture and its enigmatic relationship with the metaphysical world through phenomenological research, heuristic inquiry, and creative practice methodologies.
The multifaceted scope of my academic journey has allowed me to synergise my passions in design with my enthusiasm for construction, as I am also a continuing student of Building and Construction Management (Major in Architecture History and Theory).
By the end of this year my goal is to create a series of digitally fabricated installations that represent how subjective multi-sensory experiences in architecture can be proliferated through digitally derived technologies, informed by a collection of views proposed by Juhani Pallasmaa and other supporting designers/ researchers/ philosophers. The value of this research aims to raise awareness of the embodied knowledge harnessed by digitally derived designs, and the potential of digital fabrication techniques to generate novel conditions of multi-sensory experiences in architecture.
This blog has been activated for the purpose of documenting the process and progress of my research leading up to the presentation of my dissertation in early November.
Thank-you for reading, I hope you enjoy following me on my exciting journey!
