Experiment and Practice
In the experiment and practice stages, Webb encourages unconventional research explorations to be undertaken, and to revise and absorb the generated work.
As mentioned above, the unconventional approach that will be taken in this project are the explorations into the digital realm of fabrication by conceptualising and manufacturing a series of art installations that exploit the capacities of the CNC Milling, Laser Cutting and 3D- Printing machines. Each art installation in this series will be designed with the intention of eliciting a certain type of sensory response. Jeremy Ficca explains how this process constitutes “the transfer of knowledge associated with the exercise,” as he expresses the significance of the creative process of inquiry as the “systematised process of integrated learning through making.[2] In accordance with these views, Gary Knowles and Andra Cole confirm that the digitally fabricated art installations produced in this process will be a representation of scholarly inquiry through qualitative research in the creative arts.
