RATIONALE
This intention of the design of this artefact signifies sound in architecture, and shows how this sensory experience can be articulated through digital fabrication technologies. The phenomenological dialogue engaged by an individual from their interactions with this artefact embrace the acoustical qualities inherent within its form, structure and materiality. An individual who engages in this phenomenological dialogue with the artefact receives information through the echoing vibrations of sound that resonate through its form. This metaphysical data shapes an understanding of its delicate composition, size, and scale, weight and temperature. The essence of this encounter consumes the perceptual intellect and creates an arena for reflection and thought, heightening one’s sense of interiority and solidarity.

REFERENCE TO LITERATURE
In this abstract Pallasmaa describes the phenomenological interaction between the acoustic volume of space in architecturally designed environments and the individual experiencing this sensation as the rediscovery of self in architecture. This is because he believes that the experience of sound in architecture captures the essence of interiority; of being interior or inward. Pallasmaa describes this intimate sensation as an unconscious background experience, and explains how sound has the ability to structure and articulate the understanding of space, as sound provides the temporal continuum in which visual impressions are embedded. This holistic understanding of space encourages the individual to look deeper within themselves as they have time to reflect upon the approaching qualities of sound, rather than mindlessly reaching out to comprehend space through vision.
